Createx Airbrush Colors – Water-Based Acrylic Airbrush Paint

Createx Airbrush Colors are water-based fluid acrylic paints developed for airbrush and spray-gun application. Made in the USA, the line is especially well suited to fabric and textile painting while also supporting illustration, crafts, hobby projects, custom artwork, and properly prepared surfaces when used with the appropriate Createx painting system.

Createx Airbrush Colors in This Collection

The Createx Airbrush Colors range includes several color types with different levels of coverage, transparency, and visual effect. This makes it easier to choose paint based on the type of finish and airbrush technique required.

  • Transparent Colors: Translucent colors suited to layering, shading, gradients, tinting, and gradual color buildup.
  • Opaque Colors: Higher-coverage colors for applications where a more solid and uniform paint layer is preferred.
  • Fluorescent Colors: Bright fluorescent shades for high-impact graphic effects and creative applications.
  • Pearlized Colors: Reflective semi-opaque colors that add pearl and metallic-style effects to artwork and custom finishes.
  • Iridescent Colors: Specialty effect colors whose appearance changes with the base, lighting, and viewing angle.
  • Airbrush Color Sets: Coordinated transparent, opaque, fluorescent, pearlized, themed, and larger color assortments for different project needs.

Createx Airbrush Paint for Textiles, Art & Hobby Projects

Createx Airbrush Colors use a flexible acrylic resin system that is particularly suited to fabric and textile applications. The paint can also be incorporated into a variety of creative workflows when the surface is prepared and finished according to Createx recommendations.

  • T-shirts and textile painting
  • Fabric and wearable artwork
  • Illustration and studio painting
  • Arts, crafts, and decorative projects
  • Scale models and hobby painting
  • Custom graphics and airbrush artwork

Transparent vs. Opaque Createx Airbrush Colors

Choosing between transparent and opaque colors depends on the amount of coverage and color buildup required for the project.

  • Transparent Colors: Allow underlying colors and surfaces to influence the finished appearance, making them useful for blending, shadows, fades, and layered effects.
  • Opaque Colors: Provide stronger coverage and are better suited to applications where the underlying color needs to be covered more completely.
  • Specialty Colors: Pearlized, fluorescent, and iridescent colors can be incorporated to add reflective, bright, or color-shifting visual effects.

Reducing Createx Airbrush Colors

Createx Airbrush Colors can be sprayed directly from the bottle with suitable equipment, but reduction often improves flow and atomization, particularly with smaller airbrush tip sizes or more detailed work.

  • 4011 Reducer: The standard reducer recommended by Createx for its paints and clears.
  • General starting point: Createx commonly recommends approximately 10% 4011 Reducer by volume, with the final amount adjusted for the color, tip size, air pressure, and painting technique.
  • After reducing: Allowing the reduced paint to rest for about 10 minutes can improve flow and leveling before spraying.

For reducers, mixing clears, cleaners, and other supporting products, see the Createx Reducers & Additives collection .

Choosing the Right Createx Airbrush Color

Start with the desired finish and painting technique. Transparent colors work well for layering and gradual color development, while opaque colors provide stronger coverage. Pearlized, fluorescent, and iridescent colors can then be added when the project calls for a specialty visual effect.

Airbrush tip size, pressure, reduction, surface preparation, and curing requirements can vary by color type and application. Following the technical guidance for the specific Createx product helps ensure the paint is used as intended.
