Createx Clear Coats & UVLS Clears for Protective Finishes
Createx Clear Coats and UVLS Clears provide water-based finishing options for artwork, models, signs, props, textiles, custom graphics, and other Createx paint applications. This collection includes gloss, satin, matte, and high-gloss finishes along with traditional Createx Clear Coats, Top Coats, and acrylic-urethane UVLS Clears.
Clear Finishes in This Collection
Different Createx clears offer different resin systems, gloss levels, and intended applications. Choosing the right clear depends on the desired finish and how the completed project will be used.
- Gloss: Provides a reflective clear finish that enhances color depth and sheen.
- High Gloss: Offers the highest gloss level in the current Createx UVLS Clear range.
- Satin: Provides a softer sheen between gloss and matte.
- Matte: Reduces surface shine for a flatter finished appearance.
- Top Coats: Airbrush-friendly gloss and matte finishing products for art, craft, textile, and related applications.
Createx 5620, 5621 & 5622 Clear Coats
Createx 5620â5622 Clear Coats are water-based acrylic clears made for interior and exterior art, hobby, sign, textile, and general-purpose applications. They appear milky in the bottle and dry to a transparent finish.
- 5620 Gloss Clear Coat: Dries to a transparent gloss finish.
- 5621 Satin Clear Coat: Provides a transparent satin finish with less shine than gloss.
- 5622 Matte Clear Coat: Produces a low-sheen transparent matte finish.
These clears are intended for non-automotive finishing and may be applied by airbrush or spray gun. Current Createx product guidance recommends approximately 5%â10% 4021 Reducer when reduction is needed.
Createx UVLS Clears
UVLS Clears are water-based acrylic-aliphatic polyurethane clears made for interior and exterior applications. UVLS stands for Ultra-Violet Light Stabilizer, meaning these clears provide UV protection for the Createx colors underneath them.
- 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear: A multi-purpose gloss clear that can also be used as an inter-coat, mixing clear, adhesive primer, and carrier for candy2o and dry pearl or metal flake.
- 4051 UVLS Satin Clear: Provides a consistent satin finish for projects where reduced gloss is preferred.
- 4052 UVLS Matte Clear: Provides a consistent matte finish for low-sheen applications.
- 4053 UVLS High Gloss Clear: The highest-gloss option in the Createx UVLS Clear range.
UVLS Clears can be applied over compatible Createx paints for many signs, models, cosplay pieces, sculpture, artwork, and other non-automotive projects.
Choosing Gloss, Satin, Matte or High Gloss
The best finish depends on how much surface reflection is desired and the visual style of the finished project.
- Choose Gloss when a reflective finish and stronger color depth are preferred.
- Choose High Gloss when the highest available Createx UVLS gloss level is desired.
- Choose Satin for a balanced finish with moderate surface sheen.
- Choose Matte for models, props, artwork, and other projects where reduced reflection is preferred.
Createx UVLS Clears may also be intermixed to customize the gloss level for a particular project.
Applying Createx Clear Coats
Clear-coat preparation and reduction depend on the specific Createx clear being used. Always follow the current technical data sheet for the selected product rather than applying one mixing ratio to every clear.
- 5620â5622 Clear Coats: Current Createx guidance recommends approximately 5%â10% 4021 Reducer when reduction is needed.
- 4050â4053 UVLS Clears: Createx recommends approximately 5%â10% 4011 Reducer for thinning.
- Application: Apply controlled coats and allow suitable drying time between coats according to the product instructions and environmental conditions.
- Test first: A sample panel can help confirm gloss level, compatibility, and finished appearance before clearing the final project.
Clear Coats for Automotive & Exterior Projects
Createx 5620â5622 Clear Coats and UVLS Clears are not automotive-grade top coats. UVLS Clears can be used as inter-coats within automotive-style painting systems, but Createx recommends a catalyzed 2K urethane clear as the final top coat for automotive paint jobs such as cars, motorcycles, and helmets.
Projects intended for water submersion or prolonged pooled-water exposure also require a suitable marine-grade or catalyzed clear rather than relying on Createx water-based clears alone.
