Createx Wicked Fluorescent Colors for Neon & UV-Reactive Effects

Createx Wicked Fluorescent Colors are transparent, water-based fluorescent airbrush paints made for bright neon color, high-visibility graphics, UV-reactive effects, models, props, custom artwork, textiles, and prepared hard surfaces. The collection includes the core Wicked fluorescent palette along with selected fluorescent white, UV glow, glow-in-the-dark, and specialty effect products.

Transparent Neon Colors for Layered Effects

Wicked Fluorescent Colors are highly translucent rather than coverage-focused opaque paints. Their strongest visual effect is built by applying multiple controlled coats until the desired color saturation is reached.

  • Transparent application: Allows the underlying base color to influence the final appearance.
  • Layerable color: Multiple light coats can increase saturation without relying on one heavy application.
  • High visibility: Fluorescent pigments create brighter-looking color than conventional non-fluorescent shades under suitable lighting.
  • UV-reactive appearance: Fluorescent colors become especially vivid under ultraviolet or blacklight illumination.

Important Note About Lightfastness

Fluorescent pigments are not lightfast. Continued exposure to direct light gradually weakens the fluorescent effect, so these colors should not be treated like permanent conventional pigments when long-term color stability is required.

  • Color-keyed base: For projects exposed to direct light, Createx recommends applying the fluorescent color over a similar AutoBorne Sealer color.
  • Multiple coats: Building full color saturation provides more fluorescent material and can help improve the useful life of the effect.
  • White or bright bases: Useful when maximum brightness and visual intensity are the priority.
  • Plan for eventual fading: Exterior use should account for the fact that all fluorescent colors lose intensity with prolonged direct-light exposure.

Airbrush Setup & 4011 Reducer

Wicked Fluorescent Colors can be sprayed directly from the bottle with compatible equipment. Reduction can be used when finer atomization, smaller tip sizes, or greater transparency is needed.

  • 4011 Reducer: The standard Createx reducer for adjusting Wicked Fluorescent Colors.
  • Tip-size flexibility: Createx states that Wicked Fluorescent Colors can be sprayed through different airbrush tip sizes with minimal thinning as needed.
  • Smaller tips: Add 4011 Reducer gradually to lower viscosity and improve atomization.
  • After reduction: Allowing the reduced paint to rest for about 10 minutes can improve flow and leveling before spraying.

UV Glow & Glow-in-the-Dark Effects

This collection also contains products for additional light-reactive effects beyond the standard fluorescent color range.

  • W210 UV Glow Base: A UV-reactive base that produces a bright response under ultraviolet lighting and can be combined with compatible Wicked colors for additional UV-reactive effects.
  • Glow in the Dark Base: Designed for phosphorescent effects that absorb light and produce a temporary visible glow after the light source is removed.
  • Fluorescent White: Provides a light fluorescent option that can be used independently or incorporated into compatible effect workflows.

UV fluorescence and glow-in-the-dark phosphorescence are different effects: fluorescent colors respond strongly while exposed to UV light, while phosphorescent products can continue glowing temporarily after they have been charged by a light source.
