Illustration Opaque Colors use the same resin system as standard Createx Illustration Colors but include added filler to increase coverage. This makes them useful when a more solid color application is needed without moving to a heavier airbrush paint system.

Opaque Coverage with Illustration Colors Control

Standard Illustration Colors are transparent paints made with a high pigment volume. Illustration Opaque Colors differ by incorporating added filler for increased coverage while sharing the same detail-oriented acrylic resin.

Reducing Createx Illustration Opaque Colors

Illustration Colors can be sprayed directly from the bottle with suitable equipment, although reduction is commonly used to adjust viscosity, transparency, flow, and atomization.

• 4011 Reducer: The recommended Createx reducer for Illustration Colors.
• General airbrush range: Approximately 5%–20% 4011 Reducer by volume is the Createx starting guideline for airbrush application.
• Adjust as needed: Final reduction depends on the color, airbrush tip size, pressure, technique, and desired coverage.
• 5090 Transparent Base: Can be incorporated when additional transparency or paint extension is desired without relying only on reducer.

Soft Erasing & Illustration Techniques

Illustration Opaque Colors share the Illustration Colors resin system, which has a delayed final cure. During this working period, the paint can support soft-erasing and other reductive techniques used for highlights, textures, corrections, and detailed paint manipulation.

After the open curing period, the Illustration Colors resin develops into a harder coating. Mixing with certain additives can change this soft-erasing behavior, so current Createx technical guidance should be followed when modifying the paint.
