Muted Ochre for Weathered Miniatures
Tainted Garden provides an earthy, desaturated color that fits naturally into old, worn, dusty, and battle-damaged miniature schemes.
It can be used as a main color, a raised highlight over darker olive or brown layers, or a weathered transition between shadow and pale tan highlights.
Ochres & Tans Flexible Triad PLUS+
Tainted Garden is the John Blanche Masterclass addition to The Army Painter Ochres & Tans Flexible Triad PLUS+ family.
It can be combined with Tundra Taupe, Prairie Ochre, Desert Yellow, Wasteland Clay, Burnt Turf, and Barren Dune to create a progression through muted earth, ochre, clay, and pale tan colors.
Armor Highlights and Light Placement
An official Army Painter guide applies Tainted Garden from above over a Midnight Olive armor base to establish lighter surfaces where overhead light would naturally fall.
It is then reapplied with a brush along armor edges and beneath selected weathering marks to improve separation and make the damage easier to read.
Refined Highlights with Ivory White
Tainted Garden can be mixed with Ivory White to create progressively brighter highlights.
Use the lighter mixtures on selected edges, corners, upper panels, and other prominent points rather than covering the complete surface.
Sun-Faded Armor and Painted Surfaces

How to Use
- Shake the bottle thoroughly for approximately 30 seconds.
- Dispense a small amount onto a palette.
- Check that the pigment is evenly mixed before applying it.

- Apply thin, controlled layers rather than one heavy coat.
- Allow each layer to dry before adding lighter highlights.
- Use Air Medium when preparing the paint for airbrush application.
- Shake the bottle again if pigment separation remains visible.
