A Pale Highlight for Cold Miniature Palettes
Iceborn provides a light, cold highlight that can be placed over muted violets, faded pinks, pale skin tones, and atmospheric colors.
Use it sparingly on raised surfaces and important focal points so the model retains depth and the brightest areas remain clearly defined.
John Blanche Masterclass Volume 3
Volume 3 explores cold and spectral colors, including pallid highlights, ghostly pinks, and moody blues.
Iceborn supports this palette by providing a brighter endpoint for eerie skin, faded cloth, supernatural subjects, and frost-lit miniature color schemes.
Desaturated Violets Highlight Extension
The Army Painter recommends Iceborn as a highlight extension to the Desaturated Violets Flexible Triad.
Apply it after Wilted Rose on selected raised folds, edges, corners, facial details, and other surfaces that receive the strongest light.
Magentas Highlight Option
Iceborn can also be used as a highlight over Divine Light within a Magentas color progression.
This provides a colder and more restrained finishing highlight than a bright warm pink or clean white.

Iceborn can sharpen selected edges on pale, violet, pink, grey, or supernatural armor schemes.
Apply thin lines to prominent corners and upper-facing edges, keeping the brightest applications limited to the modelâs focal areas.
Mixing Softer Intermediate Highlights
Mix a small amount of Iceborn into the preceding midtone when a smoother transition is required.
Increase the amount gradually across successive layers before applying pure Iceborn only to the smallest and brightest areas.
Glazing and Controlled Transitions
Thin the paint gradually with water or a compatible acrylic medium when creating glazes or soft transitions.

Leaving the preceding midtones visible around the highlight helps the pale color appear brighter without requiring a large application.
