Turquoise Color for Miniature Painting

Dewpath provides a blue-green tone that can bridge darker turquoise shadows and brighter turquoise highlights while keeping a consistent color progression.

Use it as a midtone, transition color, or selected highlight depending on the colors placed beneath and above it.

Turquoises Flexible Triad

The Army Painter places Dewpath between Deep Azure and Hydra Turquoise when integrating the John Blanche colors into the Turquoises Flexible Triad.

This makes Dewpath useful when the transition between those two colors needs an additional intermediate stage or a slightly different atmospheric tone.

Layering from Deep Azure

Begin with Deep Azure or another darker turquoise color in shadowed areas, then introduce Dewpath across surfaces receiving more light.

Keep the darker color visible in panel lines, cloth folds, undersides, and recessed details to maintain depth.

Transitioning Toward Hydra Turquoise

Hydra Turquoise can be introduced over Dewpath on progressively smaller raised surfaces and focal areas.

Leaving some Dewpath visible between the darker base and brighter turquoise helps create a smoother visual transition.

Armor and Painted Panels

Dewpath can be used on turquoise armor, shields, vehicles, machinery, weapons, mechanical components, and other painted panels.

Apply darker tones in joints and recesses, then use Dewpath across the main surfaces before adding brighter turquoise edge highlights.

Cloth, Robes and Banners

The blue-green character also works on robes, cloaks, banners, uniforms, wraps, and other cloth details.

Build Dewpath onto raised folds while allowing darker turquoise colors to remain in creases and underneath overlapping fabric.

Creature Skin and Scales

Dewpath can be incorporated into aquatic creatures, reptiles, alien skin, scales, feathers, tentacles, and other organic miniature surfaces.

Use darker blue-green colors in recessed areas and gradually introduce brighter turquoise or pale highlights across the raised texture.

Magic and Spectral Effects

Turquoise colors are useful for magical energy, enchanted weapons, glowing runes, spectral creatures, crystals, water effects, and other supernatural details.

Dewpath can serve as the middle stage between a deeper blue-green foundation and brighter turquoise or pale highlights.

Weathered and Grimdark Schemes

Dewpath can be combined with weathered metallics, muted greens, dusty browns, faded cloth, rust colors, and darker atmospheric shadows.

Use scratches, staining, grime, and controlled chipping around the turquoise surface while keeping enough of the original color visible to preserve the scheme.

Mixing Intermediate Turquoise Colors

Dewpath can be mixed with neighboring colors when an even smoother transition is required.

Mix it with Deep Azure for darker intermediate stages or with Hydra Turquoise when moving toward brighter raised surfaces.

Glazing and Color Toning

Thin Dewpath gradually with water or a compatible acrylic medium when using it for glazing or subtle blue-green color adjustments.

Several thin applications provide greater control than one heavy coat and help preserve the underlying shading and sculpted details.

Warpaints Fanatic Acrylic Formula

Warpaints Fanatic is a pigment-dense acrylic paint range formulated in a premium resin base with proprietary stabilizers for smooth, controlled application and strong coverage.

The formula can be thinned significantly while retaining pigment dispersion, making it suitable for layering, glazing, blending, and detailed miniature painting.

Suggested Painting Uses

  • Turquoise armor, shields, and painted panels
  • Blue-green cloth, robes, cloaks, and banners
  • Aquatic creatures, reptiles, scales, and alien skin
  • Magic, energy, spectral, crystal, and water effects
  • Vehicles, machinery, weapons, and equipment
  • Turquoise layering and intermediate transitions
  • Atmospheric glazing and color toning
  • John Blanche and grimdark-inspired miniature painting

How to Use

  • Shake the bottle thoroughly for approximately 30 seconds.
  • Dispense a small amount onto a palette.
  • Check that the pigment is evenly mixed before applying it.
  • Apply thin, controlled layers over a clean, dry, and primed surface.
  • Add water or a compatible acrylic medium gradually when thinning.
  • Allow each layer to dry before introducing the next color.
  • Keep darker turquoise tones visible in the deepest recesses.
  • Use a fine brush for edges, smaller highlights, and detailed areas.

Creating Smooth Turquoise Transitions

Start with the darkest turquoise stage and work toward Dewpath across increasingly smaller areas.

Continue toward Hydra Turquoise or another lighter color while leaving enough Dewpath visible to create a natural transition between the dark and bright stages.

Highlight Placement

Apply brighter turquoise colors to upper-facing armor panels, raised cloth folds, creature features, sharp corners, and other areas receiving stronger light.

Keep the brightest highlights limited to selected focal points so the Dewpath midtone remains visible and contributes to the model's depth.

Paint-Type Notice: Dewpath is a John Blanche Masterclass acrylic miniature paint that works alongside the Warpaints Fanatic Flexible Triad system. It should not be classified as a wash, metallic paint, effects paint, primer, or pre-thinned airbrush paint.

Triad Notice: The John Blanche Volume 3 colors were not originally developed as fixed members of the Flexible Triad System. The Army Painter later tested them alongside existing triads and recommends Dewpath between Deep Azure and Hydra Turquoise in the Turquoises progression.

Color Notice: Screen settings, lighting, primer color, surrounding colors, and application thickness can affect how Dewpath appears. Refer to the physical bottle or a painted sample when an exact color match is required.

Application Notice: Turquoise transitions are easiest to control when each color is applied in several thin layers and the previous stage remains visible around the edges.

Safety Notice: Follow all safety instructions and precautions printed on the physical product label. This product is not suitable for children under 14 years of age.
