Buy once. Know your thread. Fit once. Know your fittings.

This quick connect is a genuine Iwata BSP T-Type quick connect fitting. In Brass! Packed by Zach and arrived intact.

While pretty costly for what it is, I would say that for me, it saves me the cost of aspirin for all the headaches I cause myself. I was mind-numbingly attempting to find a quick connect fitting for my Iwata hose, one that actually fit. I have learned much on this endeavor.

First: that the Iwata hose is a BSP fitting, not an NPT. What is NPT you ask? National Pipe Thread. The US and Canada use this. No other countries use NPT as prevalent as the US and Canada. So what is BSP? British Standard Pipe.

The thread difference between BSP and NPT is a whopping 5°! BSP fittings are 55° and NPT are 60°. This enables professional cave men like myself to muscle NPT threaded fittings into BSP fittings and use the tape to 'fix' the leaks.

I actually had no clue prior to delving into this further, just resigning myself to using the magic tape to solve my problems because of 'cheap' fittings, which weren't cheaply made, it was just my monkey brain telling me to bang the rocks together harder.

Second: there are quick connects that work only with the correct connector. Yeah, I know. The "Common sense" but no one accused me of ever using that so why start now? So most of us are probably using M-type air fittings and having a grand old time, completely oblivious that our jerry-rigged tapped together metal amalgamation masterpiece is not how our equipment is actually supposed to work. Shocking, I know. I was surprised too. Notice that I do not require the magic tape? Because it fits properly.

This Iwata quick connect is a T-type fitting, meaning that it will work only with a T-type female connector. If you do not know which female connector you have, and this fitting does not fit: Your connector is in another castle and you'll need to replace the one you have.

This may also explain a few things as to maybe why Badger and Paasche do not play as nice connection-wise with other major airbrush manufacturers.
