Createx Illustration Bloodline Airbrush Colors

Createx Illustration Bloodline is a specialized palette of transparent, muted, earth-toned airbrush colors developed with special-effects artist Tim Gore. Part of the Createx Illustration Colors system, Bloodline is designed for character painting, realistic skin effects, organic textures, figures, models, special-effects artwork, and other detail-focused projects where layered natural tones are important.

Bloodline Colors in This Collection

Bloodline uses distinctive muted colors with earthy undertones. At full saturation, the colors appear darker and more intense, while lighter applications reveal additional undertones that can be layered and blended for natural-looking effects.

  • Warm & Flesh-Oriented Tones: Infectious Pink, Blood Red, Dermatitis Tan, Surgery Sienna, Injury Ochre, and related shades support skin, wounds, organic textures, and character work.
  • Cool & Bruise Tones: Code Blue, Expired Blue, Vascular Violet, Deep Bruise Purple, and related colors provide cool undertones for bruising, shadows, veins, and layered effects.
  • Earth & Neutral Tones: Diseased Umber, Blunt Trauma Umber, Old Bone White, Decay, and similar colors support aged, weathered, bone, organic, and realism-focused finishes.

Muted Earth Tones for Character & Realism Effects

Bloodline colors are transparent paints with a high pigment load. Their muted palette is designed so lighter coats reveal rich earthy undertones while additional layers build deeper, more saturated color.

  • Layered transparency: Build color gradually for subtle shifts in skin, bruising, shadows, and organic textures.
  • Natural undertones: Muted hues help create less artificial-looking transitions for figures, characters, and realism-focused artwork.
  • Intermixable colors: Bloodline colors can be blended with one another and with compatible Illustration Colors to develop custom tones.
  • Matte finish: Bloodline shares the Illustration Colors resin system and dries to a matte finish.

Fine-Detail Airbrush Performance

Bloodline is part of the low-viscosity Illustration Colors system, which is formulated for refined atomization and controlled flow. Individual Bloodline colors can spray directly from the bottle through approximately a 0.3 mm airbrush tip or larger, while reduction can help with smaller tips and more detailed spray work.

  • 0.3 mm and larger: Suitable for direct-from-bottle spraying with compatible equipment and pressure settings.
  • Smaller tip sizes: 4011 Reducer can be added to improve flow, transparency, and atomization.
  • Fine-detail techniques: Useful for controlled shading, fine transitions, subtle color buildup, and detailed character work.

Soft Erasing & Paint Manipulation

Bloodline shares the delayed-cure characteristic of Createx Illustration Colors. The final cure is delayed for approximately 48 hours, providing an open working period during which the paint can support soft-erasing and reductive techniques.

  • Soft erasing: Allows subtle removal of paint for highlights, texture, and controlled corrections.
  • Reductive techniques: Useful for creating pores, skin texture, highlights, organic details, and other fine effects.
  • Delayed final cure: After the open curing period, the resin develops into a harder coating.

Mixing Illustration Colors with 4030 Balancing Clear changes the soft-erasing behavior, so the current Createx technical guidance should be followed when additives are incorporated.

Reducing Createx Bloodline Colors

Bloodline can often be sprayed directly from the bottle, but reduction allows painters to adjust viscosity, transparency, and spray response for different airbrush setups and techniques.

  • 4011 Reducer: The standard reducer recommended for Createx Illustration Colors, including Bloodline.
  • General airbrush range: Approximately 5%–20% 4011 Reducer by volume is the general Createx starting guideline for Illustration Colors.
  • 5090 Transparent Base: Can be used to extend the paint and increase transparency while maintaining the Illustration Colors acrylic resin system.
  • Adjust by setup: Final reduction depends on color viscosity, tip size, air pressure, technique, and desired transparency.
