AMMO by MIG Oilbrushers – Individual Oil Colors for Weathering

AMMO by MIG Oilbrushers combine oil color with a built-in applicator for placing small amounts of paint directly onto scale models and miniature surfaces. The individual color range covers metallics, earth tones, greens, blues, greys, flesh colors, rust tones, and other shades for weathering, tonal variation, detailing, blending, and finishing work.

Oil Colors for Weathering & Detailing

Traditional oil-paint techniques are widely used in scale modeling for creating subtle color variation, streaking, shading, fading, stains, highlights, and localized weathering. Oilbrushers package individual colors with an applicator that makes it possible to place paint directly where it is needed before blending or working the effect.

The amount of color, blending method, drying time, and thinner used can vary according to the technique and surface being painted.

Streaking, Dirt & Grime Effects

Dark browns, greys, rust colors, earth tones, and grime-oriented shades can be used to build localized weathering on vehicles, machinery, aircraft, structures, and other model surfaces.

Small dots or short lines of color can be placed on the surface and then blended according to the desired effect. Work gradually so the underlying paint finish remains visible where appropriate.

Shading, Fading & Tonal Variation

Oilbrushers are not limited to heavy weathering. Light, neutral, warm, and cool colors can also be used to shift the appearance of individual panels or add subtle variation to otherwise uniform paint finishes.

Application & Blending Tips

  • Apply small amounts first and build the effect gradually.
  • Use a suitable brush for blending when a softer transition is needed.
  • Concentrate dirt, rust, stains, and grime around areas where those effects make sense for the subject.
  • Allow appropriate working and drying time before adding additional finishing stages.
  • When using thinner or other supporting products, confirm compatibility with the paint layers underneath.
