Warm Shading for Miniature Skin
Warm Skin Shade is designed to flow over an established skin basecoat and collect around facial features, muscles, fingers, folds, and other recessed details.
The wash adds warmth while increasing contrast between raised and recessed areas. Once dry, the original base color can be reapplied to raised areas before brighter highlights are added.
Building Deeper Skin Shadows
One controlled coat provides general shading and color definition. Additional coats can be applied after the previous layer is completely dry when deeper shadows are needed.
The Army Painter uses two coats of Warm Skin Shade in an official skin recipe before restoring the skin midtone and adding lighter highlights.
More Than a Skin Wash
Warm Skin Shade can also be used over gold, parchment, red armor, leather, fabric, and other warm-colored surfaces.
On these materials, the wash settles around edges, engraved details, folds, panel lines, and surface texture to create separation and a warmer shadow tone.

How to Use
- Shake the bottle thoroughly for approximately 30 seconds.
- Dispense a small amount onto a palette.
- Apply the wash over a dry basecoat.
- Guide it toward recesses, folds, panel lines, and textured areas.
- Remove excessive pooling from broad or raised surfaces.
- Allow the wash to dry completely before applying another coat.
- Restore raised areas with the base color when stronger contrast is desired.
- Add final highlights after the shaded surface is completely dry.
Applying Multiple Coats
Additional coats can deepen the shade without changing the overall painting method. Allow each coat to dry fully before applying the next so the earlier layer is not disturbed.
Concentrate later coats in the deepest recesses when only selected areas require stronger definition.
Mixing and Adjusting the Shade
Warpaints Fanatic Washes are mixable, allowing the shade to be adjusted with another compatible wash when a different temperature or depth is needed.
