AMMO WARGAMING UNIVERSE

AMMO Wargaming Universe Dry Pigments for Miniatures & Dioramas

AMMO Wargaming Universe dry pigments provide color and surface effects for miniatures, figures, vehicles, terrain, bases, and dioramas. The collection includes natural earth tones, bright fluorescent colors, metallic pigments, greens, blues, reds, yellows, browns, blacks, and other specialty shades for weathering, basing, highlighting, and creative finishing work.

Dry Pigments for Miniature & Model Finishing

Dry pigments can be used to add color variation and surface effects without completely covering the underlying paint. Depending on the shade and technique, they can support effects such as dust, earth, soot, staining, terrain variation, metallic accents, and colored environmental details.

The amount of pigment, application tool, and fixing method can change the final appearance, so build effects gradually and follow the instructions for any supporting products used with the pigment.

Color Families in This Collection

The Wargaming Universe pigment range covers several different color groups and finishing styles.

  • Fluorescent colors: Fluorescent Green, Orange, Blue, Violet, Yellow, Fuchsia, Coral Red, Pink, and other vivid shades.
  • Metallic pigments: Chrome, Silver, Brass, Gold, Copper, Metallic Blue, Metallic Violet, Metallic Green, Metallic Red, and related metallic tones.
  • Natural and earth tones: Ochre, Chocolate Brown, West Sand, and other colors useful for terrain, basing, dirt, and environmental effects.
  • Greens and blues: Pure Green, Dark Forest Green, Lime Green, Sky Blue, Cyan, and other cool or vegetation-related shades.
  • Dark and neutral colors: Carbonized Black, NASCAR White, and other tones for contrast, shading, soot-like effects, or general color variation.

Fluorescent Pigments

Fluorescent pigments provide bright color options for projects where stronger visual accents are desired. They can be used selectively on fantasy and science-fiction subjects, energy effects, markings, environmental details, bases, or other creative applications.

Because fluorescent colors can appear differently depending on the base color and lighting, test the pigment over the intended surface before applying it broadly.

Metallic Pigments

Metallic pigment options expand the collection beyond traditional dirt and weathering colors. Shades such as Chrome, Silver, Brass, Gold, Copper, Metallic Blue, Metallic Green, Metallic Red, and Metallic Violet can be used where a metallic-looking accent or surface effect is appropriate.

These colors can be considered for armor, machinery, weapons, equipment, decorative details, fantasy subjects, science-fiction models, and other small metallic areas.

Earth, Dust & Terrain Effects

Natural tones such as ochre, sand, brown, black, and related colors can support terrain, basing, and environmental weathering.

  • Miniature bases and groundwork
  • Roads, rubble, terrain, and diorama surfaces
  • Vehicle tracks, wheels, and lower surfaces
  • Boots, clothing, equipment, and armor
  • Structures, ruins, scenery, and battlefield environments

Using Multiple Pigment Colors

Combining more than one pigment color can create additional variation across a surface. Darker colors can be concentrated in recessed or heavily soiled areas, while lighter or brighter shades can be used for highlights, dry deposits, terrain transitions, or colored effects.

Apply small amounts first and evaluate the result before building further layers.

Pigment Brushes & Pigment Remover

The collection also includes supporting tools alongside the individual pigment colors, including an AMMO Pigment Brushes Set and Pigment Remover.

These products support pigment application and adjustment. Review the individual product listing for the intended use and instructions before applying them to a finished model.

Applications for Wargaming & Scale Models

  • Miniatures and figures: Bases, clothing, armor, equipment, environmental effects, and selected color accents.
  • Vehicles: Dust, dirt, soot-like effects, terrain residue, colored effects, and surface variation.
  • Terrain and scenery: Soil, sand, rubble, vegetation-related colors, stone, structures, and environmental transitions.
  • Dioramas: Groundwork, buildings, machinery, debris, roads, and other scene elements.
  • Fantasy and sci-fi projects: Fluorescent and metallic pigments for creative color effects and unusual surfaces.

Application & Handling Tips

  • Begin with a small amount of dry pigment and build the effect gradually.
  • Use a suitable brush or pigment tool according to the size and texture of the area being worked on.
  • Test unfamiliar pigment combinations on a separate surface before applying them to the finished model.
  • If using a fixer, thinner, varnish, or other supporting product, check compatibility with the paint and pigment layers underneath.
  • Follow the individual product instructions for cleanup, fixing, storage, and handling.
