This is number three in the 5 volume Encyclopedia of Aircraft Modeling Techniques series from AMMO. They're all very good books for teaching modeling techniques, though I wish they'd reprint issue volume one, which seems to be hard to find.

This volume focuses on painting, from primer to initial weathering, including material on pre-shading and post-shading. There's also a really interesting chapter on painting plastic to look like wood or using wood decals, but I wish a few of the items here had a few more pictures. Overall, a great book though with plenty of material, especially for guys like me that are new to airbrushing and getting back into the hobby after many years away.

How this book compares to the FAQ series printed by a competing publishers I can't say as I don't have those books, but they are more expensive and seem to generally cover everything in one volume. The AMMO series lets you buy in more affordable smaller chunks, or just the volumes that interest you.

As with most AMMO books, it's printed on high quality paper, features great layouts and color, and although it naturally favors AMMO products, will also cover the use of other brands of paints.
