Dru Blair's The Original SoftSpring: The Softest Air Valve Spring Available!
Simply the best modification you can make to your GSI Creos or Iwata airbrush.
Why upgrade your air valve spring?
Stock air valve springs have too much tension. Replacing the original spring with a new BLAIR SoftSpring will make it much easier to control, as well as reduce finger fatigue.
BLAIR is the original SoftSpring manufacturer, and the only source that replicates the exact tolerances of Dru Blair's original personally customized Iwata CM-SB, which he began developing in the 1980's. This air valve spring is softer than any other spring available. Remember that you get what you pay for, so beware of cheap imitations.
BLAIR SoftSpring, air valve replacement spring, for all models of GSI Creos and Iwata airbrushes.
The BLAIR SoftSpring makes the downward pressure on your airbrush trigger (Main Lever) nearly effortless. This is good news because it reduces tension and fatigue that so often limits the artist’s control of the airbrush, especially when attempting fine details.
Be Aware:
Airbrush Super Lube (the blue stuff, in a tube, that sometimes comes with new airbrushes) should be avoided. Use of this product often leaves a sticky residue. If used around the trigger pin/air valve you may have to replace the o-ring.
While the original air valve spring may exert enough force to compensate and push through the gumminess your new SoftSpring is not designed to work under such conditions. The extra force this would require would negate the whole idea of lessening the spring tension in the first place.
A symptom of this build up is that it may create enough additional friction as to prevent the trigger from returning to the air off position once your new SoftSpring is installed. We have found cleaning the O-ring to offer only temporary relief sometimes days other times only minutes. Replacement of the O-ring is the only way to eliminate the buildup.
