The plastic handle of this knife narrows in diameter as the handle runs from the front to the back. 4-jaw aluminum chuck.
[The chuck is the part that, when squeezed, grips the blade. The chuck of this knife begins as a screw and leads to a part that starts off solid but then is split into four sections called jaws that clamp on the blade. If you're disassembling the knife, you'll see the handle, the chuck, the blade and a threaded metal shaft--which releases the blade as soon as you start unscrewing. To reassemble (a task requiring both hands), first slide the shaft in the handle at one end and stick in the chuck at the other end. Then insert the blade in one of the splits in the chuck and, holding the blade--which still is loose--in place with your fingers, turn the shaft until you feel it tightening on the blade. Having 4 jaws gives the chuck extra gripping strength.]
Knife includes a #11 blade--super sharp, so keep it clear of your fingers--as well as a safety cap that fits on snugly. Give it a twist to push it on all the way.
