Ammo by MIG Publications The Battle of KURSK (English)

Book, softcover, 156 pages with high-quality full-colour photos.

The Battle of Kursk was a key World War II battle between the forces of Germany and the Soviet Union in the Kursk area during the summer of 1943. It was the largest armoured battle in history, involving hundreds of thousands of soldiers and thousands of armoured vehicles. The German offensive Operation Citadel was halted by tenacious Soviet resistance and their superior numbers. This battle marked a turning point in the conflict, beginning the steady retreat of the German forces on the Eastern Front, with the strategic initiative passing to the Soviets for the remainder of the war.

This book combines the historical account with period photos, as well as a large number of full-colour profiles of soft-skins and armoured vehicles used by both sides. Learn all the details about this battle with accurate, verified data, extracted from the official German war records preserved in the Bundesarchiv. A limited edition essential for Second World War enthusiasts.

The battle of Kursk

Ammo 2023. 154 pages. Mostly B&W photos, Approx 26 pages of color renderings covering unit markings and somewhat subjective camo or base colors. Single language: English version.

Interest in the Battle of Kursk never seems to wane, and this production is full of Black and white photos, many taking up full pages. The color renderings that take up the end of the book covers the vehicles involved, unit markings and camouflage. Some images in this section include names that the crews gave to their vehicles which is always an interest to AFV modelers like myself that want to make their models stand out. As always, regardless of who makes the color renderings, colors should be taken with a grain of salt and confirmed colors known for the time period should be used.

I should be sure to mention this is an English version only, and no translations are supplied as in some other works of this publisher, which in those cases, do tend to break the continuity of the stories and the readers focus. Breifly reading the contents, it does appear the book is kinda like an after action report and is a bit dry, but in this formate, this is to be expected.

The conclusion is Spray Gunners more than reasonable price point for this publishers works make up for any percieved fault in the books themselves. Recommended at this price, 4.8 Stars.
