Works with popular Su-7 and Su-17 scale model kits including Trumpeter's 1/72 Su-7BKL, Hasegawa's Su-17 M3/M4 Fitter K, and Eduard's 1/48 Su-17 M3.

Build accurate Soviet and Russian tactical camouflage with this Su-7/17 paint set from Vallejo. Developed for the Sukhoi Su-7 “Fitter” and the improved Su-17, Vallejo reference 71.604 includes 8 x 17 ml Model Air colors selected for aircraft used from the Cold War through the 1990s. The Su-7/17 paint set also includes aircraft profiles and color guidance to help match period camouflage schemes more confidently.

Formulated for airbrush use, these acrylic colors are ready for smooth application and are well suited for layered camouflage, soft transitions, and multi-tone upper surfaces. Whether you are building an early Soviet aircraft or a later service machine, this set provides the core browns, sands, greens, and underside blues needed for these distinctive tactical finishes. Application Tips for Aircraft Camouflage

  1. Surface Prep: Apply over a suitable primer to improve adhesion and help the camouflage colors cover evenly.

  2. Layering: Start with the lighter underside colors before masking or building the upper camouflage pattern.

  3. Soft Edges: For “Fitter” camouflage, use controlled low-pressure spraying to achieve softer transitions where needed.

  4. Thinning: These paints are airbrush-ready, but Vallejo thinner can be added when needed for finer work or post-shading.ading.

Expert Advice for Soviet Aviation Modeling

  • Color Planning: Compare the included tones before painting so you can map the scheme more accurately across upper and lower surfaces.

  • Clean Airbrushing: Use flow improver or thinner as needed during longer camouflage sessions to maintain steady spray performance.

  • Expand the Scheme: If you need to push the finish further, the listed individual colors make it easier to identify matching bottles for follow-up purchases.
