Elysia, a skilled warrior and old captain from the extinct Gard of Varenheim, released Recknor after being ambushed and held prisoner when he came back to his city, to bury his family. Together, they fought bravely until arriving at the harbor, where they stole a ship to escape. In gratitude , Recknor gave a handmade pike to her.

Even though he tried to pay back the favor to her, she saved Recknow more than once. As time passed , their relationship got stronger and they became inseparable, trusting each other, in each dangerous situation. But they kept joking about their debt, their friendship and camaraderie was obvious to everyone.
