Optional Metal Grinding Class – October 25th
Kick off the workshop with an exclusive, optional metal grinding class on October 25th, where you’ll learn how to grind and prepare your metal flask for painting. This hands-on session is not required for the main workshop, but it offers a unique opportunity for personalized guidance from Gerald in a smaller class setting. You’ll start with an unprepared metal flask and leave with a primed piece ready for your artwork.
Main Workshop with Gerald Mendez – October 26-27th
During the main workshop on October 26-27th, Gerald Mendez will teach you how to use candy2o Colors and demonstrate advanced airbrushing techniques to achieve an expert finish on your metal flask. If you attend the optional class on Friday, you’ll work on your own flask; otherwise, you’ll receive a pre-prepared flask by Gerald’s assistant, so everyone can focus on the artistry.
What You’ll Learn:
- Day 1 (Optional): Hands-on metal grinding and flask preparation, perfect for personalized guidance.
- Day 2-3: Master airbrushing techniques with Createx paints, including Wicked, Illustration Colors, and candy2o, combined with our exclusive ChromaAir paint.
- Expert Guidance: Learn directly from Gerald Mendez, a seasoned expert in airbrush artistry and Createx paint applications.
Materials and Equipment:
All materials, including the flask, paints, and airbrushes, are provided! Bring your own airbrush if you prefer, or use one from our studio’s collection. Just come ready to learn and create!

Can’t make it in person? Join the Gerald Mendez workshop online! You’ll receive a pre-prepared flask and a set of paints shipped to your doorstep (available in the USA and Canada; additional shipping charges apply for international students). You’ll need your own airbrush setup and a good camera for live, two-way communication during the class.
Online participants will have access to three camera angles:
- Full classroom view
- Close-up on Gerald and his easel
- Zoomed-in view of Gerald’s work
On October 25th, you can watch Gerald as he prepares his flask, and on the main workshop days, you’ll follow along and have the opportunity to ask questions. Your microphone will be muted by default, but you can interact via chat or by “raising your hand.”
