Jacquard Pearl Ex Metallic Calligraphy Set with Gum Arabic

Jacquard's most versatile product yet, Pearl Ex Powdered Pigments may be used any time a metallic or pearlescent effect is desired: mix them into acrylics, oils, printing inks, encaustics, alcohol inks, epoxy, glues, casting resins, clay, varnishes…the list goes on!

This set offers the perfect introduction to making custom metallic inks for calligraphy. It contains nine 0.1 oz (3 g) bottles of pigment (Rose Gold, Solar Gold, True Blue, Silver, Aztec Gold, Super Russet, Pearl White, Grey Lavender, and Pink Gold) and three 0.07 oz (2.25 g) jars of gum arabic. Instructions are included, along with a short list of suggested calligraphy nibs (nibs not included).

HOW TO MAKE CALLIGRAPHY INK USING JACQUARD’S
PEARL EX POWDERED PIGMENTS & POWDERED GUM ARABIC
Calligraphers are creating beautiful custom inks with Pearl Ex Powdered Pigments! It’s easy to make custom calligraphy ink—just mix Pearl Ex and powdered Gum Arabic with a little water.
Instructions:
 1. Mix 4 parts of Pearl Ex pigment and 1 part powdered Gum Arabic.
 2. Add water slowly, and stir to an ink-like consistency.
 3. Stir vigorously until evenly mixed.
 Notes:
Suggested Recipe:
• 1 teaspoon Pearl Ex pigment
 • 1/4 teaspoon powdered Gum Arabic
• 1 teaspoon water
 • Adding more or less water will result in a thinner or thicker consistency.
» Ink with thinner consistency will lie flat on the paper when dry.
» Thicker consistencies will stand up and have a raised texture on the paper when dry.
 • If you are using liquid Gum Arabic from another brand, adding water may or may not be necessary.
Experiment until you achieve the desired consistency.
 • Thinner inks may require frequent mixing during use as the pigment is likely to settle more quickly
