Createx Illustration Colors Black 5051
Illustration Colors are heavily pigmented transparent colors which dry to a matte finish. Colors may be reduced and over-reduced in any ratio with 4012 Reducer. Illustration Colors appear glossy and vibrant with dimension after a gloss, top-coat clear is applied.
A high quality paint that covers well with nice colors but tip dries worse than any I’ve tried when mixed to the recommended ratios. I end up adding two and a half times the recommended 4012 Reducer as well as a healthy dose of flow improver, which helps considerably but it’s still worse than Golden, Grex, etc., when it comes to tip dry. However I continue to use it for its colors and coverage.
Most experienced airbrushes know to over reduce this paint but I think they’re doing an injustice to beginners by leading them to believe it can be used successfully straight from the bottle or with just 20% 4012. I’ve used it with needle sizes of 0.15, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.5 with pressures as low as 8 psi clear up to 35 psi and still feel the need to heavily over-reduce.
But like I said, I still use it regularly and simply clean the tip constantly which really isn’t a big deal on anything over 0.2.
Superfine pigment and an amazing free flowing binder. Love it.
