This gloss coat is very good in conjunction with the Intercoat 4030 Balancing Clear. It is a typical water based gloss, meaning you don't get that high sheen of a lacquer based clear. The fluid is too thick straight out of the bottle for a good air brush application. Even thinned with the appropriate thinner (reducer) 4011 by 10% it is quite thick for an airbrush even for a top-trigger (touch up gun). Unless the parts are small (palm of a hand size) any over-spray into an already sprayed area will turn flat as it must not be applied as a float coat. The only tool that gave me a very good even and clean coat on a bigger rather complicated model shape was an HVLP gun. The larger tip (1.4mm) and wider spray-fan of such a gun allows for a uniform and complete coat quickly. Speed is key with larger areas. The intercoat 4030 helps thinning out the clear a bit and helps leveling it as well. It is quite expensive for the amounts offered but the clear has UV inhibitors, which is a must for serious applications. Small parts are easily cleared using a soft brush, thinning not necessary there.

    More than shiny

As I continue to learn how to paint with Createx Colors I have found more and more uses for the UVLS Clear. It is a dandy final finish but it is also great for an undercoat right before trying something difficult that may go belly up. With a solid coat of UVLS Clear I can wipe away a mistake and not ruin my under color.
